Sound Cloud / 2010 Summer Studio

– A cloud is a visible/perceivable mass of droplets or frozen crystals suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of the Earth or another planetary body. A cloud is also an intrinsic part of meteorology and weather ecologies where visible mass is attracted by gravity, such as masses of material in space called interstellar clouds and nebulae.

This installation addresses, how experiential forms of transactive media provide dynamic and space defining interfaces between the visitor and staged space. Media is deployed as a atmospheric condition, like clouds suspended in mid air. The mass of digital bits are transported in the form of light and sound flow through  space and interacts with the user. This model allows people to co-create and compose real-time visual and  can create real-time visual and acoustic environments that are defined by physically separate areas. The project uses media as a receptive-communication model, where the user not only resides in the space, but engages with dynamic feedback potential.

The Sound Cloud project, creates an immersed sound space that actualizes people movement and behavior in a dynamic sound space. Patterns become a form of sound aura with “drawn“ repercussions and trailing properties, creating new interactive experiences in physical space. Each movement of each user will generate different layers of sound experiences in space, paralleling digital space with different types of characters.
